Foundation and Course Overview:

This is a 2 day Lecture, hands-models, and cadaver course with 16 Continuing Education credits through ADA CERP. Our zygomatic philosophy is to teach both the ZAGA method and the extra-maxillary method for zygomatic implants. As far as with pterygoid instruction, we teach both the osteotome method and the drilling method. Dr. Damon has placed over 1,100 pterygoids since 2019 and has only had 4 fail in this time. This course is a good way to find out if adding zygomatic or pterygoids is right for you.

Lecture

Dr. Damon will prepare attendees with the knowledge to perform zygomatic and pterygoid implants in their day to day clinical practice. Lecture topics include: ZAGA Classification, Anatomy Review, Surgical Instrumentation, and Prosthodontic Consideration.

Zygomatic Implants

This course will teach you how to approach zygomatic cases based on zygomatic anatomy according to the ZAGA philosophy as our starting point. Then we will teach the Extra-maxillary approach. We will discuss all aspects of single zygoma in a PATZi protocol, expanding into the Quad Zygoma Configuration. Our goal is to teach you the A-frame concept when approaching the Quad Zygoma patient.

Nasal Crest

To go from AOX standard to PATZi, the Nasal Crest approach has many benefits for clinicians: additional implant length, dense bone, more BIC, added stability, and ability to obtain a thinner prosthesis due to optimized screw channel access.

Hands on Models

Practice your zygomatic, pterygoid, and other advanced implant configuration approaches on models. Explore the Neodent Surgical kit and practice placing the 45 degree abutment optimizing screw channel positioning.

Pterygoid Implants

Dr. Damon who has completed over 1,100 pterygoid implants, teaches you both the drilling technique and the osteotome technique. Learn all the angles, proper screw-channel access, and how to predictably place pterygoid implants on all of your patients. We will also discuss restorative considerations as well. We will breakdown the radiographic studies and the approach in detail.

Cadavers

Take “the learn” from lecture and hands on models onto your cadaver. Attendees will place pterygoids, zygomatic, trans-sinus, trans-nasal, and nasal crest. Single and Quad zygomatic configurations can be done by attendees.

Trans-Nasal

Popularized by Professor Vanderlim and Dr. David Zellig, learn when a Trans-nasal approach is appropriate, how much sub-nasal bone is needed, learn relevant anatomy such as NLD (nasolacrimal duct), and what types of implants are needed. We will discuss need for grafting or not. This is treatment for extreme cases and cadavers are an excellent way to learn this approach.

Trans-Sinus

Maximize AP spread without having to opt for a zygomatic implant. Trans-sinus can help maximize your case in a simple approach. Learn tips and tricks, along with proper case selection.
